After always discovering "gallons of water" on his floor, Drew finally set up a pet camera to catch the culprit.
Drew and his wife own three cats and one dogs. With four pets running around the house, there is bound to be accidents, spills and chaos. However, they started noticing a consistent pattern: water spilled on the floor around the pets' bowl.
Unable to pinpoint who caused the mess, Drew finally placed a pet camera beside the water bowl. All they had to do was wait and watch the footage. But Drew told Newsweek he wasn't surprised when the culprit revealed herself. He shared the evidence in a March 27 Reddit post to the subreddit channel r/cats, which showed "It was the FLOOF."

A long-haired tortoiseshell cat named Smudge, who looked to have a mane, stuck her paws into the bowl. She moved her front paw back and forth as fast as she could, scooping out water and making it spill over the edge. When her job was finished, Smudge walked away from the crime scene, shaking off water evidence from her paws.
Drew said it checked out that it was the tortie cat, joking that she is the "kitty we have with the least amount of brain cells." Plus, in true tortoiseshell cat fashion, she has attitude, or tortitude.
Tortoiseshell cats have a reputation for being independent, unpredictable, and less affectionate than other cat breeds. An article from Catster reported that torties are usually "divas" who like things to be done in their way. They can be sassy, energetic and talkative with an unpredictability.
He said he never knew about the tortitude until meeting Smudge's and one of the other cat's mother about two years ago.
"Their mama showed up in our barn 2 years ago, and I started feeding her and giving her love daily, then she had her babies," he said. "The mama was quite the yeller as well! I also have never met a kitty as lovey as she was..."

...
Drew mentioned in a comment that this incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. He believes the Smudge's abrupt stop could be from one of the other cats running around. Or perhaps his wife, who usually starts getting ready for work a little after 5 a.m.
With over 36,000 upvotes and 773 comments on Reddit, people weren't surprised by her actions, especially given the cat's breed. The same reaction happened after Drew shared the video to his TikTok, @catanddoxie_dad.
"This is a prime example of good, clean cat fun," said a Reddit user.
Defending the cat, another pointed out: "There is fresher water on the bottom."
A third person commented: "Cats are adorable jerks."
