With a moment to themselves being a luxury moms around the world look forward to, a woman from Central Valley, California, has found a way to rest and relax whilst keeping her kids involved.
Hannah King, 26, has been having at-home "spa days" with daughters Aspen and Remi for almost two years. After seeing how well her idea worked for her daughters, she shared a video to TikTok inspiring other moms to incorporate a bit of self-care into their children's activities.
Speaking to Newsweek, King explained: "Spa days originated when we were having a chaotic morning and I found myself wishing I could have a spa day instead. I thought it would be fun to interrupt our morning by giving my oldest daughter a spa day instead and thinking maybe it would settle us both down. She ended up loving it!"

First setting up a spa day when her oldest daughter was just 18 months old, King's two girls now regularly request their mom set up a spa experience. Her video, in which she demonstrates the self-care experiences her daughters have during these spa days, gained over 679,000 and 96,000 likes since it was shared on February 28.
"I'm not normally a morning person. My instinct is to be snappy or impatient when the girls are having a hard morning but I know that if I act that way, it'll make the whole day worse for everyone," King says in the video.
The at-home spa experience might not be the full experience you'd receive on a staycation, with King often using whatever she has on hand to give her girls a self-care treat that doesn't break the bank.
"I love using whatever we have on hand around the house," she said. "Nail polish, a humidifier, jade roller, cotton balls, lotion for their hands. I love that there's no need to buy anything—you can just be creative with whatever is in your home!"
Aspen and Remi also take the opportunity to play pretend, with her daughters taking on spa lady characters as they talk through the treatments, coming out with funny phrases like, "I have some kids at home."
It's not just the children that get to take part, as King included a clip of her own spa treatment, lying on their makeshift treatment bed as her daughter gave her a "facial."
Speaking on how the fun activity impacts her daughters, King shared, "I think it teaches my daughters that we can always rest and reset a day if we need to and that it's fun to take care of ourselves!
"Most importantly, I think it also teaches them that we can serve one another and love each other! I've noticed that they love taking turns giving the spa day or receiving it. I love how seamless giving to one another seems to be while we do spa sessions—it's really a fun reset in the day for us!"
