MSNBC Mocked for All White Male Graphic of Potential 2020 Democratic Runners: 'You Gotta Try Really, Really Hard to Be This Wrong'

MSNBC have been widely mocked online after it aired a graphic titled "Democrats to watch," showing politicians who could potentially declare they are running in the 2020 election. The list consisted entirely of white men.

The graphic does not feature any of the confirmed candidates for the upcoming election, which is already set to feature more women and minorities than ever before. But many social media users were outraged that the network did not find a single person who is not a white male to include as a potential runner, reported Mediate.

The 15 names featured in the list include former vice president Joe Biden, Texas representative Beto O'Rourke, former mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg and 2016 candidate Bernie Sanders, who is currently an independent caucusing with the Democratic party.

A similair graphic was broadcast on the network during another segment, but was played after showing clips of senators Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar confirming they have entered the 2020 race, along with a more diverse image showing all the confirmed candidates so far: Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, Tulsi Gabbard, Julian Castro, John Delaney, Pete Buttigieg and Cory Brooker.

"So who at @MSNBC put this together? It should be captioned 'FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WILL A WHITE MALE PLEASE ENTER THE RACE?! I'M SO SCARED! I WANT MY MOMMY!'" Matt A. Barreto wrote on Twitter.

Twitter user @Bravewriting added: "With 3 qualified women, and 2 men of color in the race, MSNBC looked high and low...To find every nondescript white male Democrat (whose name we never learned because who gives a f***) and tell us how hip they are. Also Beto. Because women went extinct after Hillary lost."

"MSNBC is basically saying if you're a white man and a few people know you're [sic] name, you've got potential president written all over you," added @LLWCnova. "They're also saying [Sanders] is a 'Democrat', which is wrong. No one wonder the mainstream media has such a hard time reporting on our country."

"You gotta try really, really hard to be this wrong," wrote @waltisfrozen.

It was also pointed out that the graph used a photograph of senator Sherrod Brown twice after he was mistakenly pictured above Massachusetts congressman Seth Moulton as well as his own name.

"Appears we are so eager for more white male candidates, one guy is posing as two candidates," joked @ireadivote.

As noted by Christina Reynolds, the male democrats to watch in 2020 list are all still just "weighing a run."

"As per usual, the women have made a plan, launched and are talking to voters while still doing their jobs in the Senate," she tweeted.
