NFL Preseason: Where to Watch New Orleans Saints vs. Los Angeles Chargers TV Channel, Live Stream, Odds

The New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Chargers will both be looking for a first win in preseason when they meet in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The Chargers opted to rest Philip Rivers in the 17-13 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, while Melvin Gordon and wide receiver Keenan Allen weren't with the team. While there was no explanation given for the latter missing the game, the reasons behind Gordon's absence are well-known.

The running back told the Chargers last month he would not report to training camp until he got a new contract. So far, he has stuck to his word.

On Tuesday, ESPN reported that the franchise and Gordon are still in touch but the Chargers are unwilling to raise their offer of $10 million per year.

The first pick of the 2015 draft, however, is understood to want a deal close to the top end of the market for running backs in the same region as those signed by Todd Gurley and Le'Veon Bell.

Gurley signed a four-year deal worth $14.3 million-a-year, while Bell has a four-year contract worth $13.1 million-a-year.

The Saints also rested their veteran quarterback in Week 1 of preseason, with Drew Brees not involved in the 34-25 defeat against the Minnesota Vikings on Friday.

New Orleans, who didn't have a first-round pick this year, handed Erik McCoy his debut against the Vikings. The former Texas A&M center played several series against Minnesota and is expected to feature against the Saints.

Without Philip Rivers, the Chargers failed to trouble the scoreboard in two quarters against the Cardinals. There were some positives, however, as Rivers' backup Tyrod Taylor finished with six-for-six and 72 yards, while rookie quarterback Easton Stick completed seven of his 11 passes for 78 yards and one interception.

Stick also added 51 rushing yards and one touchdown and is expected to feature prominently against the Saints.

New Orleans also got good mileage out its backup quarterbacks, with Teddy Bridgewater completing 14 of 19 passes for 134 passing yards and one touchdown.

Taysom Hill, meanwhile, threw for 80 yards and one touchdown and added 45 rushing yards over six carries.

Both teams lost players to injuries, with Chargers tight end Andrew Vollert helped off the field after suffering a knee injury and Saints offensive tackle Ulrick John suffering a leg injury.

According to Oddschecker, the Chargers are the three-point favorite and are 83/100 to win and cover the spread, while the Saints are 33/25 to win and the over/under bar for points scored is set at 44.
