Niantic Announces Pokémon Go Fest 2020 Makeup Event for Ticketed Players

The 2020 Pokémon Go Fest wasn't without its faults, and Niantic has announced a makeup event for some of the technical difficulties the popular mobile game had over the weekend.

Niantic announced that the Pokémon Go Fest makeup event will go down Sunday, August 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time via its blog for those who bought a ticket to last weekend's event.

Pokémon featured during the Pokémon Go Fest 2020 Fire, Water, and Friendship habitat hours will be appearing in the wild. Incense will be more effective at attracting the featured Pokémon, and certain featured Pokémon will appear only when attracted by Incense, so be sure to use Incense to encounter all sorts of Pokémon.

  • From 11 a.m. to 11:59 a.m. local time, Fire-type Pokémon will appear more frequently.
  • From 12 p.m. to 12:59 p.m. local time, Water-type Pokémon will appear more frequently
  • From 1 p.m. to 1:59 p.m. local time, Pokémon found in the Friendship biome will appear more frequently

As a refresher, Pokémon that appeared during the Friendship biome included: Pikachu, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Chansey, Eevee, Snorlax, Togetic, Marill, Sudowoodo, Wobbuffet, Mantine, Roselia, Feebas, Chimecho and Woobat.

Also, there will be a special free box to claim in the in-game shop that will include two Incense and two Remote Raid Passes. However, players can only claim this box if they have fewer than three Remote Raid Passes in their item bag.

Gifts opened up during the three-hour event can contain Rare Candies, and Incense will last for one hour as opposed to 30 minutes.

Along with the makeup event announcement, Niantic revealed that Scraggy will be the Research Breakthrough encounter starting in August. The Fighting and Dark-type Pokémon was originally only available via battling in the Pokémon Go Battle League, so this is the easiest way to obtain this Unova region Pokémon.

Spotlight hours for August were also announced and will include the following featured Pokémon and bonuses:

  • Tuesday, August 4: Horsea will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, August 11: Sableye will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the Candy for transferring Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, August 18: Venipede will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, August 25: Geodude will be in the spotlight, and you'll earn twice the Stardust for catching Pokémon.
