'Pokémon Go' Johto Throwback Event: Shiny Dunsparce, Start Time and Everything You Need to Know

The second leg of Pokémon Go's Throwback events is about to begin and trainers will be celebrating the Johto region for one week.

The Johto Throwback event, similar to last week's Kanto event, will feature Pokémon from the second generation of Pokémon games. That means increased spawns of Johto Pokémon in the overworld, as well as a shift in the Raids, and egg pools.

Niantic confirms that the following can be hatched from 7km Eggs: Chinchou, Yanma, Girafarig, Pineco, Dunsparce, Gligar, Shuckle, Skarmory and Phanpy.

Also, Pikachu wearing an Umbreon hat will be appearing in the wild. Umbreon was voted the number one Pokémon of the Johto region during the 2020 Pokémon Day festivities.

Trainers will also be able to enjoy event-exclusive research and a ton of in-game bonuses. Trainers who want to learn everything you need to know about the Johto Throwback event read on.

We'll update this section with more information once we've obtained it.

Dunsparce, the pure Normal-type Pokémon, is getting its shiny form added to Pokémon Go with the Johto Throwback event.

Trainers will have a chance at finding a Shiny Dunsparce either through wild spawns, hatching 7km Eggs and possibly in Raids or field research. For wild spawns, trainers won't know if they've encountered a Shiny Dunsparce until they've interacted with it in the overworld and move to the catching stage.

Shiny Dunsparce, like Venonat before it, has one noticeable difference from its normal coloring. Dunsparce's blue patterns on its body are pink when it's shiny.

During the Johto Throwback event, trainers can earn double the Stardust when catching Pokémon and for completing Raids.

Trainers can double the experience of catching Pokémon, completing Raids, and hatching Eggs. This added experience will help trainers level up faster and earn more in-game items when they reach that next level.
