'Pokémon Go' Kanto Throwback Event: Shiny Venonat, Start Time and Everything You Need to Know

The month-long Pokémon Go Throwback event begins Friday as trainers will celebrate the Kanto region with new Shinies and other in-game bonuses.

Pokémon from the Kanto region like Venonat and Chansey will be spawning more often during the event. Raids will be populated by Pokémon from the Kanto region and 7km Eggs will hatch the following 'Mon: Scyther, Venonat, Machop, Lapras, Pinsir, Eevee, Tangela, and Onix.

A new Pikachu will also be available to catch during each of the Throwback events in May. For the Kanto event, Pikachu wearing a Charizard hat will be catchable in the wild.

Charizard was voted the most popular Pokémon in the Kanto region, which is why Pikachu is wearing a hat based on the Fire and Flying-type Pokémon. Trainers can expect Pikachu to wear the hat of the Pokémon that won the vote for most popular in that respective region when each event starts.

Trainers will also be able to enjoy event-exclusive research and a ton of in-game bonuses. But to learn everything you need to know about the Kanto Throwback event read on.

SHINY VENONAT

Venonat, the Bug and Poison-type Pokémon, is finally getting its Shiny variant in Pokémon Go.

Trainers will have a chance at finding a Shiny Venonat either through wild spawns, hatching 7km Eggs and possibly in Raids or field research. For wild spawns, trainers won't know if they've encountered a Shiny Venonat until they've interacted with it in the overworld and move to the catching stage.

Shiny Venonat has one noticeable difference from its normal coloring. The Bug type's eyes change from red to blue.

IN-GAME BONUSES

Trainers can double the experience of catching Pokémon, completing Raids, and hatching Eggs. This added experience will help trainers level up faster and earn more in-game items when they reach that next level.
