'Pokémon Go' Update: Kanto Event Offers Better Chance to Find Mew

Pokémon Go players looking to catch the original 150 will enjoy the mobile game's latest update. Niantic announced a new event that increases the spawn rate of Pokémon found in the Kanto region.

Beginning April 10 at 4 p.m. EDT to April 17, Pokémon G o players can expect increased rates of Kanto Pokémon as well as changes to Raid Battles. Aerodactyl and Snorlax are examples of Pokémon that will begin to appear in Raid Battles, so keep an eye out for any that you may have missed previously.

During the Kanto event, catching and hatching Pokémon from eggs will be rewarded with double Candy. Not only will Pokémon Go players have a chance to fill their PokeDex, but the extra Candy will give them more chances to evolve Kanto Pokémon into their evolved forms.

If you don't have enough Candy to get a Dragonite, or to evolve the Kanto Pokémon into new forms from the Johto region—like Kingdra, Porygon 2 and Blissey this is your chance. Also, if you're on your way to finding Mew, you'll have to evolve Magikarp into a Gyarados, and this is the perfect chance to get the 400 Candy you'll need.

There will also be special boxes containing Raid Passes, which allow you to challenge powerful Pokémon from the Kanto region.
