'Pokémon Go' Community Day: Shiny Larvitar, Start Time and Everything You Need to Know

Niantic continues its monthly Community Day events for Pokémon Go with its June event starring Larvitar. Community Days allow for players access to rare Pokémon and special in-game bonuses that can help trainers level up or power up their own Pokémon.

Players will have only a few hours to take advantage of the Larvitar Community Day event so here is all the information they'll need including when it starts/ends and what bonuses they can get.

WHEN DOES COMMUNITY DAY START AND END?

The Pokémon Larvitar Community Day begins Saturday, June 16 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. EDT.

SHINY LARVITAR?

Pokémon Go is slowly introducing every Shiny Pokémon into the popular mobile game. Each of the past Community Days (Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Dratini, Mareep, Charmander) has brought the spotlight Pokémon's shiny into the game and Larvitar should be no exception.

Niantic hasn't confirmed that Shiny Larvitar is coming to Pokémon Go, but fans should expect to find it. Once the Pokémon Go Community Day begins, we will update with confirmation.

SMACKDOWN

Similar to the various Shiny Pokémon, Niantic introduces exclusive moves during the Community Day events. For the Larvitar event the Rock-type attack, Smackdown will be learned by any of the Pokémon that are evolved to Tyranitar during the three-hour window.

Like past Community Days, Larvitar caught prior to the start of the event and evolved to Tyranitar will learn Smackdown. Smackdown in Pokémon Go is a quick move with a base power of 16.

OTHER BONUSES

During the Larvitar Community Day, Pokémon Go players can take advantage of some of these in-game bonuses.

Three times the experience will be given for catching Pokémon as well as Lures lasting for three hours instead of the usual one.
