Go beyond with the new level cap in Pokémon Go.
The Season of Celebration has begun in the popular mobile game with trainers now being able to reach levels they have never reached before. The level cap in Pokémon Go has now increased from 40 to 50 allowing for trainers to earn more rewards and power up their Pokémon further than they could before.
Leveling up from 40 to 50 will be different than when trainers leveled up to Level 40. Each level will have tasks that need to be completed along with earning enough experience points to level up.

POKEMON GO LEVEL 40-50 REQUIREMENTS
The requirements to leveling up in Pokémon Go will change with each level. Each level will require trainers to master their battling and adventure skills to complete each task.
Here's the requirements to level up from Level 40 to Level 50 (note: this section will be updated as more information is found).
Level 40
- 6 million xp required
- Power up a Legendary Pokémon 20 times
- Win 30 Raids
- Catch 200 Pokémon in a single day
- Earn 5 Gold Medals
Completion Rewards: Ultra Balls (x40), Max Potions (x4), Max Revives (x40), Incense (x4), Lucky Eggs (x4), Egg Incubators (x4), Lure Modules (x4)

Level 41
- 7.5 million xp required
- Evolve Eevee into each of its evolutions
- Use items to evolve Pokémon 15 times
- Make 3 Excellent Throws
- Use 200 berries to help catch Pokémon
Completion Rewards: Ultra Balls (x20), Max Potions (x20), Max Revives (x10), Razz Berry (x20), Incubator (x1), Premium Raid Pass (x1), Rare Candy XL (x1)

- 9 million xp required
- Earn 100,000 Stardust
- Use 200 Supereffective charged attacks
- Catch 5 Legendary Pokémon
- Earn 5 Platinum Medals

POKEMON GO LEGACY 40 RESEARCH TASKS
The Legacy 40 Challenge in Pokémon Go will reward trainers who have reached Level 40 by the end of 2020. Most of the research tasks will reward trainers with rare Pokémon encounters and earn the Gyarados Cap for their avatar.
Here's the four sets of research tasks that trainers will have to complete:
- Power up Pokémon 10 times - Stardust (x1000)
- Catch 15 Pokémon - Star Piece (x3)
- Make 5 Nice Throws - 1000xp
Completion rewards: Stardust (x1000), Rufflet encounter, 1000xp
