'Pokémon Go' Suicune Raids: Counters and Everything You Need to Know

The third Legendary Beast is returning to Pokémon Go this week and trainers will have plenty of chances to battle and catch Suicune in Raids.

From Thursday, February 4 at 10 a.m. to Tuesday, February 9 at 10 a.m. local time, Suicune will appear in Level 5 Raids. And if you're lucky, a Shiny Suicune may appear for you to catch.

Suicune is a pure Water-type Pokémon, making it weak to just Grass and Electric-type Pokémon.

Thankfully for Pokémon Go trainers, there are plenty of Grass and Electric-type Pokémon that can help take down Suicune, including a few Megas and Legendaries. If you're looking for an advantage, there are three Mega Pokémon that will work very well against Suicune.

Mega Venusaur and Mega Abomasnow are great Grass-type options to tank Suicune's Water-type attacks and also deal a lot of damage. Both will also increase the power of Grass-type attacks for you and your teammates' Pokémon.

The new option, Mega Ampharos can also take Suicune's Water-type attacks and increase the power of Electric-type moves of you and other trainers' Pokémon.

Here's a list of Pokémon that trainers should consider taking into battle against Suicune:

  • Mega Venusaur with Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant
  • Mega Ampharos with Charge Beam and Thunder Punch
  • Mega Abomasnow with Razor Leaf and Energy Ball
  • Zekrom with Charge Beam and Wild Charge
  • Raikou with Volt Switch and Wild Charge
  • Zapdos with Thunder Shock and Thunderbolt
  • Electivire with Thunder Shock and Wild Charge
  • Magnezone with Spark and Wild Charge
  • Leafeon with Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade
  • Tangrowth with Vine Whip and Power Whip
