'Pokémon Go' Update: Deoxys EX Raid Battles Coming

Pokémon Go has a ton of updates and events to enjoy in the coming weeks. But will trainers be ready to take on Deoxys?

Some iOS users received a push notification from the Pokémon Go app informing them that Deoxys will be coming to EX Raid Battles. The notification says "Are your ready? The Psychic-type Mythical Pokémon Deoxys is coming to EX Raid Battles!"

Mewtwo is the first, and currently only, Pokémon that can be battled and caught in EX Raid Battles. However, an upcoming event will place Mewtwo in regular Raids from Sept. 20 until Oct. 23.

Not every Pokémon Go trainer can participate in EX Raid Battles. The mobile game will give trainers who have completed numerous Raid Battles an invitation (EX Raid Pass) they can redeem at a specific Gym at a specific time, so players have a chance to gather friends to help take down the special Pokémon.

Niantic has yet to formally confirm Deoxys coming to Pokémon Go, but players should expect the powerful Psychic-type to begin appearing during the Mewtwo event or after it ends on Oct. 23.

We will update this section when Niantic confirms when Deoxys will release.

Being a Psychic-type Pokémon, Deoxys is weak to Bug, Ghost and Dark attacks. Trainers should keep that in mind as they start to plan the best teams to take it down when it goes live.
