Gigantamax Meowth and Pikachu Were in that One 'Pokémon Sword and Shield' Leak

We're getting closer to the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield, and while Game Freak and The Pokémon Company spoon feed fans information, most of it was leaked months prior.

On Wednesday, a trailer revealing brand new Gigantamax Pokémon was released and there were two in particular that were mentioned in this leak.

Many Pokémon fans have heard about this specific leak that continues to be proven correct with every new trailer, Nintendo Direct or random pixelated Pokémon on the official site. This leak has been referred to as the "Affleck leak" after the 4chan poster's avatar of actor Ben Affleck.

It correctly predicted Sirfetch'd, the names of trainers and the rival, as well as Cramorant, but it seems the Affleck leak strikes again with the latest Sword and Shield trailer.

Here's the line from the leak that was confirmed by the latest trailer:

"Gigantamaxing is different from Dynamax as it changes what the Pokémon looks like. Meowth looks like long cat. Pikachu looks like retro fat Pikachu."

This line also confirms another Gen 1 Pokémon receiving a Gigantamax form, but we won't spoil it here.

SPOILER ALERT! If you don't want Sword and Shield spoiled, turn back now.

The Affleck leak had other interesting tidbits that have yet to be revealed. The other Gen 1 Pokémon getting a Gigantamax form is Lapras, which wasn't shown in the trailer. Instead, Gigantamax Butterfree was revealed alongside Pikachu, Eevee, Meowth and Charizard.

There's also a line that suggests Meowth will get a Galarian form, but the latest trailer didn't confirm that as we only saw Meowth from the Kanto region.

Here's the rest of the Affleck leak that has yet to be confirmed:

  • Eternatus is the evil legendary.
  • Gigantamaxing is different from Dynamax as it changes what the Pokémon looks like. Meowth looks like long cat. Lapras gets layers like musical bars to its shell and musical notes. Pikachu looks like retro fat Pikachu
  • Some Pokémon, like Farfetch'd, will get regional evolutions, like Sirfechtd. Meowth looks like a ball of spiky grey fur
  • Skwovet and Greedunt are chipmunk Pokémon that will hide in berry trees and attack randomly if you shake for too many berries. If they attack, you lose half the berries that dropped.
  • The fourth gym is the first Fairy-type gym, led by an actress named Opal. Milo, Nessa and Kabu are the first ones.
  • Before fighting the gym leaders, you have to complete the gym challenges.
    • Milo has you herding sheep Pokémon named Wooloo, but Pamper, an electric corgi Pokémon, will startle them and send them rolling elsewhere.
    • Nessa has you running through a maze where water blocks the way.
    • Kabu requires you to catch Pokémon and get five points, but you have to be in a party battle with another trainer who's also trying to catch it.
  • Pokémon will not walk beside you in the overworld map
  • Scorbunny will have fighting moves but is pure fighter. It becomes Raboot, but I don't remember the final evolution, except that it looks like a fighter. It looks humanoid
    • Writer's Note: it's likely that this is a typo and Scorbunny's final evolution is pure Fire not Fighting.
  • Sobble becomes Sizzile and then Intelleon, a chameleon with a spy theme
  • Grookey will end up as a giant gorilla that beats a wood drum to attack.
