NEW POKÉMON

The new Sword and Shield trailer showed more of Yamper, the Electric-type Corgi Pokémon that was part of the E3 demo. But the big reveal in the new Sword and Shield trailer were of three new Pokémon.

The first is the Rock-type Pokémon, Rolycoly. It has the abilities Steam Engine and Heatproof. Steam Engine is a new ability that increases the speed of Rolycoly when it is hit by a fire or water type attack.

Another new reveal was Alcreme, a Fairy-type Pokémon which has the ability Sweet Veil.

Finally we have Duraludon, the Steel and Dragon-type Pokémon with the abilities Light Metal and Heavy Metal. Duraludon is said to have a rivalry with Tyranitar because they share the same environment.

NEW TRAINERS

There are already a lot of trainers and characters in Sword and Shield but this latest trailer shows even more entries on the growing cast of characters.

Chairman Rose is in charge of the Galar region Pokémon League and is also the president of a large business conglomerate. According to the official press release, Rose "made the Galar Pokémon League famous by implementing Gym Battles featuring the Dynamax phenomenon. Chairman Rose was also the first to endorse Leon for the Gym Challenge."

Oleana was also revealed and is Rose's secretary. She is known for her calm and collected personality and also" serves as the vice president of Rose's company and is largely in charge of the day-to-day running of the company."

Bea and Allister are two new Gym Leaders who will appear in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Bea is a fighting-type expert and will only appear in Pokémon Sword.

Allister is a Ghost-type expert who will be in Pokémon Shield. This is the first time that differences in trainers will be a part of the version exclusives.

GIGANTAMAXING

Dynamax is a new battle mechanic introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield that increases the size and power of Pokémon. Gigantamaxing is a step further. It changes the appearance of Pokémon and gives them access to powerful G-Max Moves.

Alcreme, Corviknight, and Drednaw were all shown to have Gigantamax forms.

Drednaw stands on two legs and recedes into its shell. Using a water attack will transform it into Stonesurge. They are water type moves that unleash Stealth Rocks.

Corviknight gets larger and has reinforced armor. Some of the armor on its wings can detach and fly independently using Gigantamax energy. If Corviknight uses a Flying type attack it will transform into Wind Rage that deals damage and clears the field of hazards and shields like Reflect and Light Screen.

Alcreme appears on top of a multilayer cake. If it uses a Fairy type move, it will transform into G-Max Finale that deals damage to your opponent but also heal everyone on your side of the field.

Pokémon Sword and Shield will release November 15.
