Galarian Slowbro, Isle of Armor Release Date and More Revealed in Latest 'Pokémon Sword and Shield' Trailer

The latest Pokémon Sword and Shield trailer was released Tuesday, giving players new information on The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra DLC that's coming out later this year.

Pokémon Sword and Shield players can expect to enjoy a new adventure in the Galar region starting June 17, when The Isle of Armor DLC becomes available. The release date for The Crown Tundra was not revealed on Tuesday.

Galarian Slowbro, the evolution of this region's Slowpoke, was also featured in the trailer, along with cutscenes and gameplay footage of both DLC.

There's a lot of information featured in the trailer and on the official Japanese Pokémon site, and we'll break it all down, starting with The Isle of Armor.

The Isle of Armor

The Isle of Armor is the first part of the Sword and Shield Expansion Pass and will allow trainers to evolve their Galarian Slowpoke into Slowbro. This new Slowbro is Psychic- and Poison-type with the new ability Quick Draw and the exclusive move Side Arm Smash.

While we don't know what Quick Draw does, Side Arm Smash is a Poison-type attack that deals either Physical or Special damage, depending on which would do more damage while also poisoning the Pokémon.

As for Gigantamax Venusaur and Blastoise, it seems you'll either be gifted one or both Pokémon during the story of The Isle of Armor. There is one scene that shows a female trainer with a Bulbasaur and Squirtle by her side. This is likely when trainers gain access to these powerful forms.

Venusaur and Blastoise's G-Max moves are similar to Gigantamax Charizard's. Once hit, both moves will hit non-Grass and non-Water Pokémon for four to five turns.

As for Gigantamax Urshifu, both versions of its G-Max move deals damage even if the Pokémon is defending itself.

The Crown Tundra

The Crown Tundra DLC won't be out until the fall of this year, but we've gained a lot more insight into the story and the new Pokémon that inhabit the area.

First, we have the two new Regi's in Regielec a pure Electric-type Pokémon with the new ability Transistor. It has the new move Thunder Cage, which deals damage and traps a Pokémon for four to five turns.

The other is Regidraco, a pure Dragon-type Pokémon with a new ability of its own called Dragon's Maw. It's signature move is Dragon Energy, which deals more damage the more HP Regidraco has.

Galarian Moltres is a Dark/Flying-type Pokémon with the ability Berserk, which increases the Pokémon's Special Attack when a hit brings its health to half or below. It knows the move Fiery Wrath that deals damage and has a chance to flinch.

Galarian Zapdos is a Flying/Fighting-type Pokémon with the ability Defiant, which increases its Attack whenever one of its stats are lowered. It has the signature move, Thunderous Kick which deals damage and lowers the opponent's Defense.

Galarian Articuno is a Psychic- and Flying-type Pokémon with the ability Competitive, which increases that Pokémon's Special Attack when a stat is lowered. It's signature move is Freezing Glare, which has a chance to freeze the opponent.

There's actually a scene in the new trailer that shows the new Legendary Bird Pokémon fighting one another, so they will likely play a big role in The Crown Tundra story.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are available now for Nintendo Switch. The Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLC can be pre-purchased in the Nintendo eShop for $29.99.
