'Pokémon Sword and Shield:' New Pokémon, Abilities and Everything We Know So Far

The latest Pokémon Direct revealed a lot of information, including the reveal of some of the new Pokémon found in Sword and Shield.

The Direct and trailer gave some base information on these new

Pokémon but the official Sword and Shield site as well as promotional material gave some specific details on them including types, Abilities, and much more.

Here's everything we learned about the new Pokémon in Sword and Shield.

SWORD AND SHIELD NEW POKÉMON: GOSSIFLEUR

Gossifleur is a pure Grass-type that will likely act as the Oddish of the region.

Not much is known about it, but it can learn the abilities Regenerator or the new Ability, Cotton Down. Cotton Down lowers the speed of all Pokémon when it is hit. This is great for double battles.

Gossifleur prefers land with clear water and air. Its pollen has a healing effect and is commonly used as a folk medicine remedy and made into a tea given to children in the Galar region when they are ill. Gossifleur travels over long distances by getting blown along by the wind. It controls the direction of its travels by twisting its body and petals.

SWORD AND SHIELD NEW POKÉMON: ELDEGOSS

When Gossifleur evolves, it remains a pure Grass-type. However, it seems that it becomes bulkier as Milo, the grass gym leader, uses one in battle as a Dynamax Pokémon.

Milo's battle style is about endurance so expect some leech seed, absorb and synthesis shenanigans when fighting.

Like it's pre-evolved form, Eldegoss can have the abilities Regenerator or Cotton Down.

When Gossifleur evolves into Eldegoss, its head becomes covered in thick cotton fluff. This cotton fluff serves as a cushion that helps to protect Eldegoss's head from damage. The tiny seeds attached to the cotton fluff are said to be highly nutritious and beneficial to both people and Pokémon. Eldegoss spreads these seeds throughout the region, making the soil of the Galar region rich in nutrients.

SWORD AND SHIELD NEW POKÉMON: WOOLOO

Wooloo is the sheep Pokémon and is a pure Normal type. It is likely an early game Pokémon similar to Rattata.

It can know the abilities Run Away or Fluffy. Fans may recognize Fluffy as Bewears signature ability. It increases the Pokémon's defense but makes it susceptible to Fire type attacks.

The white fur that covers Wooloo's body grows throughout its life and will fully grow back in three months even if it has been completely shorn. The fur is used for clothing, carpets, and other goods and is very popular as a specialty product of the Galar region. Wooloo live as a herd and mimic the actions of their Trainer or herd leader. They dislike conflict, and if they need to escape from enemies, they will simply roll away.

SWORD AND SHIELD NEW POKÉMON: CORVIKNIGHT

This bird Pokémon is a flying and steel type. While it looks menacing, it has the special gimmick of acting as a taxi for trainers in the Galar region.

Its abilities are Pressure and Unnerve.

It is said that Corviknight is the strongest Pokémon living in the skies of the Galar region. It can often be seen fearlessly soaring through the air. Many say that any Pokémon foolish enough to challenge Corviknight are sent running with just a sharp glare and cry from this fearsome Pokémon. Because Corviknight possess superb flying skills and high intelligence, many of them work for the company called Galar Taxi and help transport people from town to town.

SWORD AND SHIELD NEW POKÉMON: DREDNAW

The Water and Rock-type Drednaw looks to be a powerful Pokémon. Not only does it have a good offensive typing but it has two powerful abilities.

Strong Jaw increases the power of biting type attacks. While there are no Water or Rock type biting attacks, they may be introduced in Sword and Shield.

Its other ability is Shell Armor, which prevents Drednaw from being Critical Hit. This is especially useful if you want to make your Pokémon more of a wall.

The jagged fangs of the Bite Pokémon Drednaw are strong and sharp enough to bite through rock and iron. Though it has a heavy shell, its well-developed muscles allow it to move quickly. Drednaw is known to be extremely aggressive, so it takes a skilled Trainer to tame and handle this Pokémon. It seems that some Trainers will release Drednaw back into the wild once they discover they can't handle it.

Pokémon Sword and Shield will release November 15.
