PS5 Restock Update for Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, Target, Amazon and More

PS5 restocks have been infrequent over the past few days, but there is reason to believe that this might change soon. In particular, a couple of major drops are expected to occur later this week.

Here is a breakdown of all the latest PS5 restock information.

Best Buy PS5 Restock

As reported by dependable console tracker Matt Swider, Best Buy is long overdue for a restock at this point.

The retailer has not been selling PlayStation 5s since mid-August and its last restock was almost four weeks ago. According to Swider, the reason for this delay is that Best Buy had a number of drops bunched close together in the first half of August and ended up depleting its supplies in the process.

Since then, the merchant has been steadily replenishing its inventory and Swider predicts that it might finally be ready to sell new units this week. If that turns out to be the case (Swider's forecasts are usually quite accurate) then it will be worth following @mattswider and @GYXdeals on Twitter, so that you can be alerted immediately and get ahead of the crowds.

GameStop PS5 Restock

Swider has also indicated that a GameStop drop could be just around the corner.

According to his inside sources (who rarely steer him wrong with these things), a restock is imminent and could be taking place as soon as Thursday, September 9.

GameStop has been releasing its new PS5 supplies at around 11 a.m. ET typically, so make sure to keep an eye on the website in the late hours of the morning.

One final thing to bear in mind is that—for the past month or so—GameStop has been exclusively reserving PS5 sales for its "PowerUp Rewards Pro" members. As such, you might want to consider registering for this loyalty scheme in advance of the next restock. You can do this on the outlet's website for an annual cost of $14.99.

Amazon PS5 Restock

Shortly after we published our last update, Amazon restocked on the PS5 digital edition. As always, this drop was short-lived and even the most prepared shoppers were not guaranteed a console.

Amazon is now sold out of new PlayStation 5s, but you can find a few second-hand units on the website if you are willing to buy from third-party resellers. Those units will set you back a hefty amount though, with some exceeding costs of $1,000.

Walmart PS5 Restock

The PS5 is currently unavailable from Walmart.

With a few exceptions, Walmart typically adheres to a pattern of restocking every other Thursday, at 3 p.m. ET. There was no drop last week and so we recommend that you keep an eye on the merchant's website around the afternoon of September 9.

PS Direct PS5 Restock

There is no word on when the virtual line is going to reopen at PS Direct.

However, the storefront normally gives customers a heads-up by sending out restock emails a few days in advance. Given that this has not happened recently, it would appear that the next drop is still some way off.

Target PS5 Restock

It has been a while since Target last coordinated a nationwide drop, as individual stores have been organizing their own restocks lately instead.

Speaking of which, you can check if any locations nearby to you have the PS5 in stock by searching via ZIP code on the Target website. It is best to do this early in the morning, as that is when most stores will update their inventory pages.

Antonline PS5 Restock

Antonline does not have any PS5s in stock at the moment but, if you are willing to settle for less powerful hardware, you can get an Xbox Series S as an alternative.

The cheaper console has been available in several bundles for a few weeks now without selling out. More information about this can be found in our latest restock update for Microsoft's rival system.

Newegg PS5 Restock

Newegg only distributes next-gen consoles through their randomized "shuffles" events. At the time of writing, neither the PS5 nor the Xbox Series X are available in any of these lottery draws.

You might be able to find the consoles listed elsewhere on the Newegg website, but these are second-hand units that are being traded by third-party scalpers (often for extortionate rates).

Costco PS5 Restock

The PS5 is still unavailable from Costco and has been for a very long time. Dedicated console trackers like @mattswider and @GYXdeals will inform their Twitter followers if the situation changes.
