Why Have 'Vanderpump Rules' Stars Raquel Leviss and James Kennedy Split?
Vanderpump Rules stars will be heartbroken to learn one of the show's most famous and much-loved couples have split after 5 years together.
Raquel Leviss and James Kennedy even got engaged earlier this year with Kennedy pulling out all the stops to hold the perfect Coachella-themed proposal. However, on Sunday, December 5, the couple announced they were no longer together.
Newsweek has everything you need to know about their shock split.
Why Have Vanderpump Rules stars Raquel Leviss and James Kennedy Split?
Just seven months into their engagement, Vanderpump Rules stars Raquel Leviss and James Kennedy have sadly, called it quits.
In a joint statement on their personal Instagram accounts, the former couple said their separation was down to them having "different goals". Leviss and Kennedy added: "We love each other very much, but we aren't in love anymore."
Their emotional statement in full reads: "After these 5 wonderful years we had together, we decided we have two different goals and made the decision to call off the engagement.
"We love each other very much, but we aren't in love anymore. We want nothing but the best for each other so please keep any thoughts positive. Sending Love."
Their split will come as a bit of a shock to Vanderpump Rules fans, considering the couple were in the middle of filming the Vanderpump Rules Season 9 Reunion on Friday, December in Los Angeles when they called it quits.
At the moment, whether their break-up will play out on screen remains unknown.
Leviss, 27, and Kennedy 29 met at a New Year's Party in 2016 and made their debut as a couple together in Season 5 of Vanderpump Rules in 2017.
Kennedy, a London-born DJ, was already being a part of the Vanderpump family when they met, having stared on the show since Season 2.
Kennedy proposed to Leviss in May after five years together in a Coachella-themed proposal, calling the occasion "Rachella"
Taking to Instagram to share the happy news, Leviss posted on her Instagram: "James proposed at the iconic Empire Polo Fields of 'RACHELLA' Friday night... and I said YES! I'm over the Coachella moon #RACHELLA."
Fans got to see every moment of the extravagant engagement, with the proposal featuring an episode of Vanderpump Rules Season 9 in October 2021.
Sadly, Leviss and Kennedy are not the only Vanderpump Rules stars to have split.
Lala Kent, 31, and Randall Emmett 50, who were engaged for three years and have a daughter, Ocean, together reportedly split in October 2021, according to PEOPLE.
Kent addressed the breakup rumors on her "Give Them Lala" podcast, where she said: "I want to acknowledge that I'm sure everyone knows what is going on between Randall and myself and just in my personal life.
"There will be a time where I feel comfortable enough to open up and share. Today is definitely not that day. It's been a lot, I'm going through a lot."
She continued: "I feel like it's weird because I, for the first time, have no idea what my future holds.
"I don't know what each day is going to look like and for a really long time, I've had a schedule where everything is planned out. My future was ahead of me and I was like, 'This is the plan.' And I'm kind of just letting the universe take control of my life and place me where I need to be. I'm not questioning anything."
Vanderpump Rules airs every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
