In 2017, during the development for the Resident Evil 2 remake (out now for PS4, Xbox One and PC), it was revealed that the long-time series voice cast would not be returning to their original characters, including voice actors who have previously played Claire Redfield, Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong.
"We've reimagined what these people would look like and, while we have nothing but respect for our original cast from the original game, if we're going to reimagine everything about this story and these characters we should start from that basis for every decision," Resident Evil 2 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi told Newsweek in 2018. "That includes not just how to make the characters look but how they sound, too. So our ultimate decision was to find a voice cast for the new game that we thought best matched the experience."
Since that reveal, speculation swirled around the cast of voice actors Capcom gathered for the new Resident Evil 2. Thanks to the end credits and release day social posts from cast members, we now know the voices and faces behind the digital cast of Resident Evil 2.

RE2 Actor: Leon S. Kennedy
Leon S. Kennedy is voiced by Nick Apostolides, who also appears in the voice cast of Life is Strange 2. But Apostolides didn't just voice Leon, revealing on Instagram that he also contributed full performance capture, "body, face and voice," to the Resident Evil 2 remake.

The same was true for many other members of the Resident Evil 2 voice cast, with Capcom capturing voices, facial scans and body motion to make each Resident Evil 2 character equal parts performance and digital creation. Much of the RE2 voice actor cast also have credits as performance capture artists.
RE2 Actor: Claire Redfield
Claire Redfield is voiced and performed by Stephanie Panisello, who has also contributed a motion capture performance as Lara Croft to Shadow of the Tomb Raider . "I can't wait to survive Raccoon City with you!" Panisello posted.

RE2 Actor: Ada Wong
Super spy Ada Wong, who tries to steal a sample of the Umbrella Corp. virus, is voiced by Jolene Andersen in the Resident Evil 2 remake.
RE2 Actor: Sherry Birkin
Eliza Pryor, a young actor who's appeared on the Disney Channel show Raven's Home , voiced and performed motion capture for Sherry Birkin, who becomes a player character during Claire's Resident Evil 2 campaign. Pryor posted a picture of herself in a motion capture suit, side-by-side with her character.

RE2 Actor: Marvin Branagh
Christopher Mychael Watson played Lieutenant Marvin Branagh, who provides support to Leon and Claire early in the campaign, until succumbing to the zombie virus. "FINALLY! I get to announce I've joined the franchise as the new "Marvin Branagh" in the highly anticipated Resident Evil 2 remake," Watson posted to Twitter. "This gamer's life has been made."
That's not it for the talent involved in the Resident Evil remake. The game's end credits also reveal voice actors for Raccoon City's corrupt police chief Brian Irons (Sid Carton), plus the game's villains, Annette (Karen Strassman) and William Birkin (TJ Rotolo).
Resident Evil 2 is out now for PS4, Xbox One and Steam.
