Is 'SNL' Live Tonight? Season 43 To Resume With Host Donald Glover

Saturday Night Live finally returns this weekend with first-time host Donald Glover and first-time musical guest Childish Gambino—both of whom just so happen to be the same person. That's right—Glover is serving double duty when Season 43 of the sketch comedy show airs on Saturday night.

Although the Atlanta creator and star is hosting and performing for the first time on SNL, he's not the first artist to fill both roles on the NBC show. Glover joins pop stars— like Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Drake and Lady Gaga—who have all showed off their comedy chops and belted out hits on the SNL stage.

Glover isn't a stranger to sketch comedy though. The 34-year-old Emmy and Grammy winner got his start in the entertainment business performing sketch comedy in New York City, similar to many of SNL's current and former cast members. After writing, producing and starring in a number of shorts, Glover caught his big break when he joined the writer's room of Tina Fey's NBC hit 30 Rock. The show was loosely based on the backstage happenings at SNL, so more than likely, Glover is more than prepared for his grand debut.

SNL returns with the last few episodes of the season at its usual time slot of 11 p.m. ET on NBC. For folks who don't have television, the show can be live streamed on any computer or smart device by logging on to NBC's website with their cable provider login or they can stream the show on Hulu (if they have it). Of course, clips of the episode will be uploaded to SNL's YouTube shortly after the episode airs for those who only want to catch the highlights.

Comedian Amy Schumer with musical guest Kacey Musgraves and Tina Fey with rapper Nicki Minaj are slated to appear on SNL in the weeks to come.
