The candidate began their video by explaining that they were going to read the "worst rejection letter" they've ever received.

The email started out with the company saying they will "cut right to the chase" and told them they weren't selected to move on with the hiring process.

"And who knows," the email read, "maybe we've made a big mistake? Albert Einstein couldn't land a job as a maths tutor for kids and Speilberg got rejected from film school. Crazy right!"

"The guess the point is: every great success story begins with a little failure. We've had our fair share of failure too. Even though you won't be joining us just yet, who knows what the future holds? Perhaps, you'll prove us wrong (We certainly hope so). Stay hungry, stay foolish."

The quote "Stay hungry, stay foolish" comes from the late Steve Jobs.

"First thing that probably came to my mind was probably rage?" I just felt super patronised honestly," Fox wrote in a comment to Newsweek. "It felt like they thought it was the first job rejection I'd ever received when I've been job searching since January and had my fair share of job rejections but nothing comes close to this."

They also say that they were in "shock" that they went viral on TikTok and they didn't expect their video to blow up as much as it did.

"I make a lot of content about looking for jobs, to have lots of people commenting their own stories, it's always nice to see other people's perspectives and know you're not alone."

Other users of TikTok commented their thoughts on the "patronizing" email.

"its so patronising," a user exclaimed.

"I think I'd rather have no reply at all," one wrote.

"I guess they're trying to be quirky and cool in their rejections and completely missed the mark," said another.

One user questioned, "why have they so many spelling and grammar mistakes?"

Another pointed out, "Success for you tho as the company have shown their true colours. If this is the tone they take with externals, hate to think how they talk to staff!"

"I'd correct the spelling and grammatical errors and send it to the company CEO," one account suggested.

"yea those generic rejection letters don't seem so bad anymore," a user admitted.

While many on TikTok are seeing the email as "patronizing," a similar email was posted to Reddit where the user called the email "heartwarming."

Posted to the popular Reddit forum titled r/MadeMeSmile, a user named u/effineuphoria has received over 72,000 upvotes for their submission.

Users in the comment section had mixed opinions on the email.

"At least they sent a letter instead of just never giving any communication after the application was sent," u/Glittering-Stress-88 wrote, receiving the top comment with over 10,000 upvotes.

U/HeartoftheHive pointed out, "Even if it's canned, it's still the best response I've seen in years. Usually you get nothing. At best some soulless response that you were rejected and that's it. This at least shows they know you are a human with feelings. Says a lot for the company you were applying to."

"I might be one of the few that thinks this is kinda bad. I don't want to be Disney or Spielberg lol I just wanted a job so I applied to this job and didn't get it," u/NeverOnTheShelf said.
