How to Watch New 'South Park' Special 'The Streaming Wars' Online For Free

South Park is back for its third streaming special. Fittingly, Cartman, Eric and the rest of the gang will be fighting The Streaming Wars in this new episode.

South Park: The Streaming Wars is billed as a "new exclusive event" in its trailer, and is the third of 14 planned online exclusives for the show.

Paramount+ has not revealed much about the special, but have teased that it sees "Cartman lock horns with his mom in a battle of wills, while an epic conflict unfolds and threatens South Park's very existence."

If that sounds intriguing, here are the two best ways to (legally) watch the Streaming Wars special online for free.

In the U.S., the special is streaming on Paramount+ from Wednesday, June 1. The Streaming Wars is a Paramount+ exclusive, meaning that the streamer is the only way to legally watch it in America and the other territories where the streamer has launched (and is soon launching).

As with most streaming releases, the South Park special streams from midnight PT or PDT. Also streaming on the service are the previous specials, South Park: Post Covid and South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid.

Numerous streaming services have been getting rid of their free trials recently, like Netflix, HBO Max and Disney+. Luckily for fans who want to see the special but do not want to pay, Paramount+ does still offer a free trial.

In fact, there are two ways to get a Paramount+ free trial. The first of these is via the Paramount+ website and app. New subscribers can get seven days of the service for free there.

After that, the streamer has two payment tiers. You can subscribe to the Essential package (with ads) for $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year, or the Premium version without commercials for $9.99 a month/$99.99 a year.

Another way to get a Paramount+ free trial is through Prime Video Channels. To get this, visit and find the Paramount+ section or banner. Though the navigation of Amazon can be a little cumbersome, you should be able to find a subscribe button that will give you the chance to sign up for a seven-day free trial. After that, the Prime Video Channels version of the service is $9.99 a month.

If you do not have a Prime Video account (if you sign up for Prime you get one automatically), you can sign up for a Prime Video free trial and a Paramount+ Prime Video channel at the same time.

If you want to watch the regular seasons of South Park, these are on HBO Max. Though the service does not offer a free trial, you can get one if you sign up to the streamer as a Hulu add-on. To make things just that bit more confusing, Paramount+ does not have the regular seasons but does have the 2021 movie Bigger, Longer and Uncut.
