Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has welcomed the return of David Luiz to Stamford Bridge after his sensational deadline day transfer.

The Brazilian defender secured a £32 million ($43 million) move from Paris Saint-Germain back to west London after leaving for £50 million ($66 million) just two years ago.

Courtois, who is on international duty with Roberto Martinez's Belgium, believes Luiz can aid Chelsea's quest of returning to winning trophies.

"I think David is a very good player. It is an interesting move and I hope he will help us win titles. It's good to have him with us," the goalkeeper said.

Courtois was also pleased to see Chelsea striker Diego Costa remain with the club this summer after saying he had come close to a return to Atletico Madrid.

"I have not talked to him really about the rumors over a return to Atletico Madrid," the Belgian player said.

"I am pleased he is staying at Chelsea because he is a great forward and he has already scored two really important goals for us this season."

Chelsea faces Swansea on September 11 after the international break.
