Sports Announcer Joe Buck Asks Twitter Followers For Home and Work Videos To Give Him Play-by-Play Practice During Quarantine

Sports fans have a love-hate relationship with Fox broadcaster Joe Buck, who is the lead play-by-play voice for NFL and Major League Baseball on the network. He has called 21 World Series and six Super Bowls, including the latest NFL title game just last month.

There are fans who hate him, and those who adore him, with not much in between, according to social media.

The current COVID-19 pandemic crisis that has stricken the globe and brought sports to a virtual standstill. In that time, everyone from athletes to coaches, trainers to front office personnel and fans to sports media have scavenged ways to keep themselves entertained.

Buck tweeted Sunday afternoon that he is seeking videos from people's home and work to give him material to "work on my play-by-play."

And Twitter loved it.

"I have good news for you - ... While we're all quarantined right now without any sports, I'd love to get some practice reps in. Send me videos of what you're doing at home and I'll work on my play-by-play. Seriously!"

About an hour after his initial tweet, Buck posted another that stated if a video gets used, then that person should "donate to a cause" during the coronavirus setback.

"If your video gets posted you have to pledge to donate to a cause during this quarantine. Even if it's a dollar. Send something! I'm pledging to the St. Louis Community Fund. I'll do some this week! And supply me with some details please. Here's my house."

Buck is the son of former broadcaster Jack Buck, who did play-by-play at 17 Super Bowls for CBS radio. Joe became Fox's lead play-by-play broadcaster in 2002, and he calls the network's dubbed America's Game of the Week every Sunday during regular season, and he also calls the weekly Thursday night game.

In addition to his sixth Super Bowl, Buck is the lead play-by-play announcer for Fox's coverage of Major League Baseball. He has covered 21 World Series, 21 MLB All-Star Games and 23 MLB League Championship Series. Buck, who is a seven-time Emmy Award winner, is also the lead golf announcer for Fox.

During the beginning of this year's Super Bowl 54 in Miami, Twitter fans were furious to find out Joe Buck was calling the game, which set off a firestorm of tweets as the game kicked off.
