Following his UFC 320 victory, Pereira was speaking to the media about his appearance in a walking boot. According to the UFC star, he may have suffered a broken foot.
"Yeah, it's my foot, and I am pretty sure it's broken. But I had a really good strategy that I saw that worked ... inside calf kicks were working. I threw a few of those, and then he switched stances. I think I was in the wrong range, and I threw another kick to his lead leg, and it landed on the tip of my foot, and I think it's broken," Pereira said.

Despite Pereira's massive win to get the UFC belt back, he is likely to receive a lengthy layoff due to the broken foot. Naturally, more tests will be done to determine just how bad the break is. If Pereora suffered a significant break to his foot, he could spend months healing before being allowed to compete again.
Both top light heavyweight contenders, Carlos Ulberg and Jiří Procházka, watched as Pereira regained his title. Ulberg and Procházka are currently ranked as the No. 2 and No. 3 contenders, respectively. Those numbers may change due to Ankalaev losing the title.
Simply put, Pereira has a few matchups that make sense, but those matchups likely have to wait due to the injury he suffered.
