ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania shared a few minutes before Davis' posts that he would require hand surgery and that he is slated to miss several months.
"Dallas Mavericks' Anthony Davis is likely to undergo surgery to repair ligament damage in his left hand and miss several months, sources tell ESPN. His Dallas season is essentially over, given the prognosis and the Mavs' direction."
Charania added in his latest column that Davis' season is done due to a left-hand injury. He also said that he will undergo surgery to repair ligament damage. The former No. 1 overall pick has suffered a ton of injuries in his career and in his time in Dallas alone.
Davis has only played in a total of 29 games in Dallas.
Davis suffered the injury while defending Utah Jazz All-Star Lauri Markkanen on a drive in Thursday's game. In the loss, Davis posted 21 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and one block in 35 minutes of playing time.
While many suspect that this injury, regardless of the severity, will keep Davis out of trade talks, that is far from the truth. At least according to Charania, the Mavericks are having renewed Davis trade talks with multiple teams.
"The Mavericks are having renewed Davis trade talks with multiple interested teams, sources said. If moved to a playoff contender, the return timeline could allow Davis to return during the postseason while establishing himself for the long-term elsewhere."
This season alone, lower-body injuries have plagued Davis. Whether that is a hamstring or adductor problem, he has been limited in his play since arriving in Dallas.
The 32-year-old is labeled as fragile, but there is no denying his talent.
