So far, the Lakers have yet to divulge what illness is keeping James from appearing in games. Even if he happens to be appearing in the waning moments of games, he continues to be ruled out due to this mysterious illness he is dealing with.
James has averaged 2.8 minutes per game over eight appearances. He did appear for a minute against the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 7. However, he missed Jan 13 against the San Antonio Spurs, and will miss Wednesday's game against the Heat.

James has not seen much action on the court with the Lakers this season, appearing in nine games throughout the year. He is averaging 2.4 minutes per game, 0.4 points per game, 0.1 rebounds per game, and 0.3 assists per game.
James has been far more productive with the South Bay Lakers in the G League, where he has appeared in seven games.
James is currently averaging 14.7 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, 4.3 assists per game, and an 8.4 PIE.
The younger James made history alongside their father, LeBron James, as the pair became the first father-and-son duo to play on an NBA court at the same time. Bronny's journey thus far has led to him becoming a massive draw.
According to a report from Marca, Bronny surpassed the rookie jersey sales set by his own father.
"Bronny has already shattered NBA records with his rookie jersey sales. Over 500,000 jerseys have been sold at around $100, generating more than $50 million in revenue for the Lakers. This surpasses even the rookie sales of his father, LeBron James."
Bronny also recently disappointed fans in Mexico City, who came out in droves to see the young James take the court.
The South Bay Lakers faced the Mexico City Capitanes on Jan. 3 and 4, but Bronny did not make the trip. A fan admitted disappointment in the rookie missing the game.
"Most of the tickets sold were to see him," one fan said, according to a translation on X.
The hope is the illness that has been affecting Bronny will soon pass, and the rookie can rejoin his father back on the court. For now, he remains out.
