Jalen Brown still feels "disrespected" over being traded by the Boston Celtics and plans to use that as motivation for the upcoming season with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Weeks after the trade was announced, Brown appeared on his live stream and revealed that he'd received an official Philadelphia 76ers jersey with his name printed across the back. He put the jersey on and then spoke about how he's feeling ahead of the new season.

"I’m more inspired to win than anything, because I feel like I’ve been a little bit disrespected in this process for whatever reason from people that I thought valued me and everything I brought to the team and the city. Found out quickly that that may or may not be the case, so I want to win more than anything," Brown told his viewers on stream.

A motivated Brown is exactly what the 76ers want, and with LeBron James also joining the starting lineup, many have quickly crowned them as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference.

After weeks of drama and speculation, Brown was traded last month to the 76ers for Paul George and future draft picks. He'll be one of four players in Philly's starting lineup who averaged 20-plus points per game last NBA season.

Brown also brings them playoff experience, having been to multiple postseasons and won the championship with the Celtics in 2024. He claimed the NBA Finals MVP Award in 2024 during that win.

The main issues that could plague the new-look 76ers are having too many star players assembled, and trying to get everyone to coexist happily with whatever roles and stats they end up with. However, if they're able to put aside egos and sacrifice stats for the sake of winning, this could easily be a team that gets to the NBA Finals.

LeBron James signed a two-year deal to seemingly finish his career in Philly over the next two NBA seasons, while Brown seems he'll be there longer as part of a star-studded team. That's good news for the 76ers, who haven't won a championship since 1983 with legends Moses Malone and Julius "Dr. J" Erving.

While preseason games don't carry the same weight as regular-season games, the 76ers and Celtics will meet twice in October. They first meet Saturday, Oct. 10, at TD Garden in Boston, and then at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Friday, Oct. 16, in Philadelphia.

It's unlikely that starters would get a lot of minutes in these particular games, but it could be the first chance to see Brown playing against his former team since the trade.
