However, they will do so with a new coach at the helm after the Knicks shockingly fired their head coach for the past five seasons, Tom Thibodeau.
The Knicks fired Thibodeau in early June, ultimately replacing him with two-time Coach of the Year Mike Brown. It came as a shock to everyone around the league, including Knicks guard Miles McBride.
McBride didn't mince any words about his former head coach, sharing bluntly that he was shocked over the decision.
“Honestly it was crazy. It was unexpected. All my four years were with Thibs. He did a great job with me and team,” McBride said, per James L. Edwards III of The Athletic. “Coming in with Mike, I’m excited. … He’s been communicating with a lot of guys, allowing people to talk.”
Thibodeau led the Knicks to the playoffs four of the five seasons and led them to consecutive 50-win seasons for the first time since the 1990s. He led the Knicks to a 250-197 overall record.

The 67-year-old coach led the Knicks back to significant postseason relevance. However, falling short to the Pacers this past season was the final nail in the coffin.
Now,Mike Brown will now look to take the Knicks over the top with an incredibly stacked roster in a poor conference.
This season is as good as any to lead the Knicks to the NBA Finals and possibly win their first title since 1973.
According to ESPN Bet, the Knicks are entering the season with the fourth-best odds to hoist the Larry O'Brien with +1000 odds, and McBride will play a key role in that.
The soon-to-be-fifth-year guard has spent his entire career with the Knicks, and last season was certainly his best. Much will be expected from McBride off the bench, as he has shown that he can provide a spark on both sides of the floor.
