Bronny James went cold against the Phoenix Suns on Friday night, going 1-of-12 shooting in the first preseason game for the Los Angeles Lakers. With LeBron James and Luka Doncic sitting out, the Lakers gave Bronny 24 minutes of play in the team's 103-81 loss to the Suns.

Bronny's performance against Phoenix prompted a rant from 2001 No. 1 pick Kwame Brown. Brown claimed there are high school athletes who can play basketball at the NBA level better than LeBron's son.

Brown shared his thoughts on his "Kwame Brown Bust Life" YouTube channel to relay his thoughts.

“This ain’t year one. This is year two. This is year two," Brown said on his YouTube channel after the game. "This don’t make no sense. We got high school players better than Bronny. Absolutely, got high school players better than Bronny. Bronny was never the best high school player on his team. He was never the best college player on his team. And he still gets 12 shots in a preseason game where everybody’s auditioning, where nobody normally passes the ball.”

Brown didn't stop with the insult of Bronny. He brought LeBron into the discussion, blaming the star for using his political power to put Bronny in the association and take away opportunities from other up-and-coming players.

“And for every young man that thinks that you can just be the president or you can get in the league and you gonna get a fair shake at it, I think LeBron James' situation just proved... (expletive) the narrative," Brown said."They tried to say, ‘Oh, it’s nepotism.’ No, I think this LeBron James situation just proved that politics is in everything."

Bronny didn't do himself any favors with the Lakers after his poor shooting performance against the Suns, but he'll have another opportunity to show the coaching staff he deserves more playing time in the regular season. LeBron and Doncic will sit out in Sunday's preseason game against the Golden State Warriors.

Bronny finished his rookie season averaging 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. He shot 31.3 percent, a number that must improve if he's to become a key contributor in his second season.
