With the LeBron James sweepstakes officially ending in favor of the Philadelphia 76ers, it's giving the King's former teammates extra incentive to try to get themselves on the roster.

On Friday, James's former Lakers teammate, Dwight Howard, shared a social media post with the message "Ring Season," seemingly pitching the 76ers on adding him next.

His X post featured side-by-side photos, the first of which shows him in a Sixers jersey. Next to that is a real photo of Howard celebrating with James when they won the 2020 NBA championship with the Lakers.

Howard's post quickly racked up over 15,000 likes and numerous comments reacting to his attempt to get the team's attention, with several reminding him he's done playing in the NBA and others showing their support for his idea.

"You not getting the call big dawg just wrap it up alr," one commenter wrote in the X replies.

"Let's sign a petition, let's get Dwight back in the league," someone else suggested on Howard's post.

"Your fall out has to be studied more than any fallout in the history of fallouts @DwightHoward," a commenter said.

Others commented, "I honestly hope they sign you bro!" and "Bruh if Dwight Howard get a 1yr deal this is definitely a championship team."

Howard played in the league from 2004 to 2022 and had several stints playing for the Lakers, including the 2019-20 season when they won the championship. However, he was on the Philadelphia 76ers the following season, so he has ties with the team in the past five years.

He averaged seven points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game while with the team. After losing big man Andre Drummond in free agency to the New York Knicks, Howard would clearly give them another option behind Joel Embiid if the Sixers thought he could add value as a reserve.

However, the former No. 1 pick hasn't played in the NBA since 2022 with the Lakers. He last played with the Taiwanese professional basketball team the Taoyuan Taiwan Beer Leopards from 2022 to 2023. Howard retired from basketball in March after receiving his induction into the Naismith Memorial Pro Basketball Hall of Fame.
