The Pelicans have gotten off to an awful start, boasting an NBA-worst 0-6 record. Head coach Willie Green's job is under scrutiny, and with a need for results, it will be tough sledding for New Orleans without its best player.
Expectations for the Pelicans were higher than usual this season, especially with Williamson coming into the season in phenomenal shape and sharing his eagerness to work with the new head of basketball operations, Joe Dumars.
"I like Joe. What you see is what you get. He's going to hold me accountable, and as he holds me accountable, he's going to give me a lot of responsibilities as well," Williamson said during media day.
"I'm excited for it and I look forward to it. I know he's going to hold me to a really high standard and if I slip up or anything, I know he's going to be right there to make sure I get right back on path."
This season, the Pelicans' franchise player has averaged 22.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists on 48.7 percent shooting from the floor.
