Buddy Boeheim went undrafted in 2022, signing a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons. He appeared in a total of 10 games his rookie season, averaging 1.6 points per games across 9.0 minutes of action.

Boeheim played another 10 games at the NBA level in 2023-24, this time averaging 8.4 minutes per night but increasing his scoring total to 3.4 points.

He was waived in June 2024 and signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in October. He ultimately joined the team's G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue, for the entire season.

Across 73 career G League games across both OKC and Detroit, Boeheim has averaged 13.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 41.5 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from deep and 88.2 percent from the free throw line.

He had more of a bench role with OKC this past season, starting in just nine of his 24 games. He saw his averages dip to 10.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 34.2 percent from the field, 33.5 percent from deep and 77.8 percent from the free throw line.

Boeheim will now head to waivers, where he can be claimed by another team. If not, he could always return to Oklahoma City to go back to their G League team.

As for his father, Jim spent 47 years as the head coach of the Syracuse Orange basketball program. He played for Syracuse from 1963-66, and came back as an assistant coach in 1969. After taking over as the head coach in 1976, he held the role until his retirement in 2023.

Boeheim was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005 and the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. He led Syracuse to five Final Fours and one National Title, which they won in 2003.
