Although the big three is a formidable one, the Warriors would love to add to their star trio. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Warriors have done all they could to pursue Lakers superstar LeBron James.

The Warriors Have Expressed Interest in James Before

Golden State has expressed interest in the 21-time All-Star before. Prior to the 2024 NBA trade deadline, the Warriors called the Lakers about James and his availability.

However, James and the Lakers wanted to remain together, so Los Angeles declined.

A lot can change in the following months as the 2026 NBA trade deadline is less than six months away. James and the Lakers are in a bit of a murky spot as things stand.

The entire summer, James' future in LA has been in limbo. The four-time NBA champion is no longer the centerpiece for the Lakers; that title belongs to their young superstar Luka Doncic.

Reports have suggested that James is not happy with that being the case, but others have reported that James and Doncic are doing their best to make things work and compete for a title this upcoming season.

The Lakers didn't have the most active offseason like many predicted they would, but at the end of the day, they lost just one key player in Dorian Fionney-Smith and signed three players, including Jake LaRavia, Marcus Smart and Deandre Ayton.

As for the Warriors, their offseason has been quiet like a church mouse. They currently only have nine players on their active roster, and with a little over a month until training camp, the expectation is that should change.

Golden State has had the four-time MVP on their radar for some time, but unless James wants a change of scenery, specifically the Bay Area, then he isn't going anywhere.

James will soon enter an unprecedented 23rd season in the association.
