Saturday's Alabama-LSU clash at Tiger Stadium feels like a playoff game. Both teams enter at 6-2, with Alabama 4-2 in the SEC and LSU 3-2. There's a very good chance that whoever loses that game won't make the College Football Playoff.

Alabama is ranked fifth in the first CFP rankings and is coming off a 31-20 win over Texas A&M, while LSU is 14th after a 38-17 win at Auburn. It will also be Lane Kiffin's first game against Alabama, where he was the offensive coordinator from 2014 to 2016 under Nick Saban, since taking over as head coach at LSU. Alabama leads the all-time series 58-27-5 and has won 13 of the last 15 meetings.

Leading up to the game, former Crimson Tide quarterback AJ McCarron revealed one unique part of the SEC rivalry that he actually loved.

"You know, you saw JPW [John Parker Wilson] in that game, score on the QB sneak and do the phone call, and you don't know the backstory behind it. Whenever you play LSU, and you're the starting quarterback at Alabama, your number gets leaked," McCarron said on a recent episode of "THE DYNASTY" podcast. "Mine was always the week of about Tuesday, Wednesday, is when your number actually started getting leaked out. And I would answer it my first year. I would answer it and act like somebody else. I would do other voices because I was just having fun with it. And I'd have people apologizing. It was definitely fun. Those are good memories for sure."

McCarron started at quarterback for Alabama from 2011 to 2013 and won two national championships. In his 2012 junior year, he led the FBS with a passer rating of 175.3, completing 67.2% of his passes for 2,933 yards and 30 touchdowns with just three interceptions across 14 games. He finished with a 36-4 overall record as a starter and left as one of the most successful quarterbacks in program history.

The Alabama-LSU rivalry has produced some of the sport's most memorable games, including the 2012 national title game with McCarron under center. The Tide won that game 21-0, and McCarron went 3-1 against LSU throughout his career as Alabama's starting quarterback.

This season, Alabama's got a manageable remaining schedule, but will likely still need a win Saturday to secure a spot in the CFP. After LSU, they'll travel to Vanderbilt, host Chattanooga, and then finish the regular season at home against Auburn. As for the Tigers, they'll next host No. 7 Texas, then go to No. 13 Tennessee and face Arkansas on the road to close out the year.
