There were a lot of viral moments during the Oregon Ducks 41-28 beat down of the No. 12 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. From the Ducks scoring 38 straight points, to Oregon head coach Dan Lanning pointing to the Horseshoe scoreboard following a fourth quarter scuffle, to fans bailing the Shoe early on in the fourth quarter… okay, so all those didn’t exactly make Ohio State look good in the spotlight.

And neither will this one.

Buckeyes’ wide receiver and Heisman hopeful Jeremiah Smith, who had seven receptions for 133 yards, couldn’t hide his frustration late during the third quarter.

Following the loss, Smith is now considered a long shot to win the Heisman Trophy as he slips behind Miami quarterback Darian Mensah and Notre Dame quarterback C.J. Carr.

Smith currently has 69 receptions for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns during the 2026 season. He has said that this season will most likely be his last.

Ohio State was up 14-0 before surrendering 31 points through three quarters. Smith contributed a 32-yard reception that led to the Buckeyes' second touchdown in the first quarter. It wasn't until the final play of the third quarter when Smith was able to contribute again. Afterward, Smith yelled toward his team's sideline in frustration several times.

OSU drops to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten. They will host Northwestern on Nov. 14.
