The Texas Longhorns stunned the college football world this weekend by staging an incredible comeback in the second half against the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes.

Quarterback Arch Manning was instrumental in the 24-23 win, completing 23 of 37 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown. The majority of the Longhorns' scoring came in the final quarter, as they had three touchdowns behind Manning's leadership on the field.

His Super Bowl-winning uncle, former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, heaped praise on the Texas star in reacting to what he witnessed this past Saturday.

"Just proud of him. Proud of my nephew. Proud of Arch," he told Sports Illustrated before adding, "Kind of a weird first half.

"Kind of a weird first half. The first play of the game: there's a fumble. You think you're about to throw a 60-yard touchdown, and a receiver kind of falls down; the ball pops up to intercept it. Dropped touchdown. So, weird first half," Manning explained.

"Proud of how he stayed patient. He didn't force things. You know, being down 20, you can try to press and make it worse. Just took completions, and eventually they got on a roll," the two-time Super Bowl winner said, "and made the comeback, so, big win, for them."

Manning said his nephew experiencing a comeback win like that can "do a ton for your confidence, a ton for the team."

Much like last season, Arch Manning entered this season with high expectations because of his famous family members, which also include two-time Super Bowl winner Peyton Manning and his grandfather, Archie Manning, a former Ole Miss Rebels standout who played in the NFL for 14 seasons.

All of those elder Mannings have likely given valuable advice and feedback as the Texas Longhorns star looks to follow in their famous footsteps. He's already considered among the top prospects in NFL mock drafts for next year.

Of note, Arch Manning could achieve a major award that the aforementioned Mannings never did in their college careers by winning the Heisman Trophy.

The closest any Manning came to doing so was Peyton Manning, who finished as runner-up to standout Michigan safety and cornerback Charles Woodson for the 1997 Heisman Trophy.

As of this writing, Arch Manning trails only two contenders in the Heisman Trophy odds: Miami Hurricanes quarterback Darian Mensah and Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith, who remains a strong contender despite the Buckeyes' loss.

Manning and the Texas Longhorns are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 19, to host UTSA.
