Lane Kiffin did it.
He said he was going to conquer the transfer portal, and the LSU Tigers head coach did just that.
His biggest signing came at the most critical position, quarterback, where he locked down the top-rated signal caller in the transfer window in Sam Leavitt.

Kiffin did everything in his power to land him. He even took a last-minute flight to Tennessee, where Leavitt was visiting the Volunteers campus for their own pitch to sign him, in an attempt to bring him to Baton Rouge.
Although the team also signed five-star phenom Husan Longstreet from the USC Trojans, Leavitt is the all but confirmed starter for the LSU Tigers for the 2026 campaign.
Well, one person has a different idea, though. And he will be in the QB room with Leavitt and Longstreet this spring.

FCS QB Landen Clark from Elon College is the third player under center Kiffin signed in the portal, and he is not backing down after seeing the competition he will need to go against to get any time on the field this upcoming season.
"When Landon got the call today [that another QB signed], Landon literally said, 'Coach, I'm the best one in the room, anyways, I want competition,'" his personal trainer and QB coach, Baylin Trujillo, said on the "Power Hour LSU" this week. "He is built different. He does not care. He even told the coaches on his visit, 'If you sign Sam Leavitt, I'm still going to be the one.' That's just his mentality".
Landen Clark's confidence and assuredness do not come without any results. The young QB has been a winner throughout his career and believes that LSU and Lane Kiffin's coaching can help him take the next step in his development to become one of the best college signal callers in the entire nation.
Trujillo would go on to praise Clark for taking an unknown high school team to the top of the state, scoring 71 touchdowns on his own while also playing defensive back when called upon. He also praised his work ethic, noting that he will do any little thing needed to help the team succeed.
Although the mountain to climb seems impossible, not only in the short term with Leavitt but in the long run against Longstreet, who has the tools to possibly be a No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, Clark believes in himself.
He welcomes the challenge.
"He just loves the game of football," Trujillo said. "He will do anything it takes to win. He will sell out his body for the team, no matter what that looks like. If you have that with coach Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis, at some point in three years, Landon Clark's name is going to be all over the SEC."
