Utah finished the regular season with a 10-2 record.

Whittingham is a legendary coach for the Utes, the only head coaching job he held in his career. He took the job after Urban Meyer left for Florida before the 2005 season.

Whittingham went 177-88 overall in his 21 years as the head coach at Utah, the most wins by a coach in program history.

Whittingham, 66, won the Mountain West Conference in 2008 and the Pac-12 Conference in 2021 and 2022. He earned Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year in 2019 and AFCA Coach of the Year in 2008. Whittingham played linebacker at BYU.

Scalley, 46, played defensive back at Utah from 2001 to 2004. He's been on the staff of the Utes since he started as a graduate assistant in 2007, and worked his way up to becoming the defensive coordinator and safeties coach in 2016.
