On Wednesday, Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding told reporters at the SEC Media Days event in Tampa, Florida, that he harbors no ill will against Lane Kiffin after he took the LSU head coaching job.
Golding suggested Kiffin did him a favor by selling him a house in the offseason.
"(Lane) helped me on this one a little bit .... because he had another offer that he actually worked out to where I could get it, and the other person couldn't," Golding said, via Pete Thamel of ESPN.

Maybe selling the house to the new head coach of Ole Miss had something else in it for Kiffin.
On Thursday, Kiffin told reporters that he kept tabs on Golding during recruiting season via his old Ring camera. When his LSU assistants theorized Golding might be visiting a certain recruit, Kiffin could check to see if Golding was at the house.
"(Golding) can't be wherever it was at this recruit's house, he's on my couch," Kiffin said of what he'd tell his staff. "I just saw him walk in."
Kiffin gave Golding a heads up after the fact.
"I told him afterwards, you might want to change the Ring Camera," Kiffin said.
It's unclear how much of an edge knowing Golding's whereabouts would have been for the recruiting trail. In-person visits are becoming less consequential for the transfer portal as programs put an emphasis on players visiting their campus.
Kiffin used whatever he could to gain an advantage on Ole Miss while the transfer portal was open. One of the reasons why the Rebels parted ways with Kiffin before the College Football Playoff was to curb the chances he could poach their players to LSU while the transfer portal was still open.
Indeed, Golding made strong pitches to Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy and quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, telling the two that leaving for LSU in the transfer portal would hurt their image in the minds of college football fans.
"I said 'Google Lane Kiffin,'" Golding said, via On3. "The dude that they would have built a statue of here three days ago. Google his name right now. They wouldn’t (expletive) on him if he’s on fire. And so they’re gonna do the same thing to y’all two if you do that."
Kiffin needed to build a strong roster via the transfer portal this offseason if he wanted LSU to compete for the CFP this year. The Tigers did that, though how much help they got from the Ring camera is unknown.
