The Texas Longhorns definitely had a disappointing season, missing out on the College Football Playoff in spite of entering the year as the top-ranked team in college football.
Nevertheless, Texas still went 9-3 with some impressive wins, and with Arch Manning looking like he will return for 2026, the Longhorns should be a force next season.

Of course, Steve Sarkisian and Co. will have to make some adjustments, and that will mean getting busy in the transfer portal.
While the Longhorns could be targeting bigger names like wide receiver Nick Marsh, they also should be looking to address their defense, which is why North Carolina Tar Heels linebacker Khmori House should be a prime target.
House has decided to transfer out of North Carolina, a decision that comes one year after he made the move from Washington to Chapel Hill. The sophomore led Bill Belichick's squad with 81 tackles on the season, adding an interception and a forced fumble.

Sarkisian is certainly familiar with House, as he heavily recruited him before the star defender decided to take his talents to the Pacific Northwest ahead of 2024. And with Anthony Hill Jr. departing for the NFL this offseason, there is no better time for Texas than to revisit a union with House.
House is currently the top-ranked linebacker in the transfer portal and was a three-star prospect when the Longhorns initially recruited him a couple of years ago.
You kind of get the feeling that House did not truly get the chance to showcase his best skills at North Carolina this season, which was the case for basically everyone at UNC in 2025.

Moving on to a top school like Texas could do wonders for House's development and could potentially result in a breakout campaign for the California native.
It will be interesting to see if Sarkisian tries to lure House to Austin again.
