The San Francisco 49ers cannot seem to catch a break when it comes to their offensive players being hurt. Though quarterback Brock Purdy was able to return in Week 4 after suffering from a turf toe injury, the injury was reaggravated in their 49ers' loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Purdy was ruled out for Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, along with Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall. With an already depleted offensive unit, the 49ers just received a brutal new injury return timeline for their star passer.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the injury that Purdy sustained has resulted in a "setback," and he was nowhere "close" to playing against the Rams. Even worse is that his status for the games past Week 5 is also in question.
"Not close. My understanding is that Brock Purdy suffered a setback in the loss against the Jaguars. He got hit the same way, remember, he was dealing with that turf toe injury. Came in, reported soreness. Had an MRI, the MRI revealed an aggravation of that turf toe. Not major major. Out tonight, I am told he is considered week to week after this. They play the Bucs next week, he could miss that game as well," Rapoport said.

Purdy suffered more damage to the already-injured turf toe, and now he could miss more than one game. This is a terrible update for the 49ers, as they continue to see their offensive players remain out.
With Pearsall, Jennings, Purdy, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk tonight, the 49ers' starting offense consists of Mac Jones, Christian McCaffrey, Kendrick Bourne, Demarcus Robinson, and Jake Tongues.
The 49ers are also facing a very formidable Rams team, and they have a very tough ask ahead of them to win with so few starters available. Though the team has been able to tough it out for a 3-1 record, they may not be as lucky moving forward against the Rams and Bucs.
