The Chicago Bears are looking to take a big leap forward in the NFC during the upcoming 2025 NFL season. Caleb Williams will be a massive part of that goal.
After being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Williams showed signs of superstar potential during his rookie year. However, there were also a lot of questions left to be answered about him from last season.
So far this offseason, there have been plenty of negative storylines surrounding Williams. He has looked rough at times during training camp. Williams did not play in the team's first preseason game.

Williams is the player that the Bears have chosen to build around. They have gone all-in on surrounding him with talent. If they miss on him, the franchise will be set back by years once again.

That being said, head coach Ben Johnson has announced some major news regarding Williams. The second-year quarterback will be playing in the team's second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.
"Well, last week — and really, all through camp — I've been pretty consistent with the thought of reps, reps, reps are the most important thing to get him up to speed," Johnson said.
"And by the plan that we had a week ago, we were able to get him probably somewhere between 80 and 100 more reps than we would've been able to do had he played in the game. This week, it's a different schedule. Different length of time in terms of in between games and all that. And so, our plan right now is the guys that sat out last week, they will be playing this week."
Getting in-game reps are extremely important for young quarterbacks. Williams is no different.
Last season in 17 regular season games, Williams completed 62.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also ran for 489 yards on 81 attempts.

At just 23 years old, a lot of pressure is riding on the young quarterback's shoulders. It will be interesting to see how he plays in his first preseason game of the year.
Hopefully, things go well and Williams can start clicking on all cylinders heading into the regular season. Chicago badly needs that to be the case in order to compete in a very talented NFC North division.
