The Buffalo Bills enter every season believing they can go toe-to-toe with anybody in the NFL.

That's because they've got the best quarterback in football, Josh Allen. But year after year, the team has fallen short, lacking the elite wide receiver who can take over when it matters most.

General manager Brandon Beane thinks he's found the answer in DJ Moore. Buffalo acquired him in March, betting that a change of scenery can reverse a rough 2024 in Chicago, where Moore posted career lows of 682 yards, six touchdowns, and 50 catches. Buffalo isn't looking at last year's numbers, though. They're banking on 2023 Moore, when he hauled in a career-high 1,364 yards, sixth-most in the league.

And with Allen throwing him the ball, the odds feel good. After Wednesday's practice, Allen spoke about his growing chemistry with Moore — the two are reportedly already clicking on the field — and detailed the exact moment things came together between them.

"I feel myself trying to be perfect when I'm throwing him in some of the routes on air," Allen said. "Today I walked up to him and I was like, 'Hey, I'm just going to throw it. I'm going to pick a spot and let it go. And I'm not trying to aim it anymore.' And I felt like once I said that, things kind of clicked for us."

More news: Keon Coleman Gets Brutally Honest Ahead of Pivotal Year 3 With the Bills

Wide receiver has been a lingering issue for Buffalo ever since the team parted ways with Stefon Diggs. Khalil Shakir has been reliable, but he's never established himself as a true WR1. Keon Coleman was expected to fill that void, yet he's still searching for consistency. Skyler Bell could develop into that role down the line — but right now, the expectation is clear: Moore is the one who's supposed to be that guy.

Just a few years ago, Moore was among the NFL's best wide receivers — and now, paired with an MVP-caliber quarterback, he's got a clear runway back to that level. The Bills believe it's possible. Allen believes it's possible. All that's left is for the 29-year-old to prove the front office made the right call, betting on him to be the final piece of the puzzle.
