Cleveland Browns starting cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. may have a season-ending injury, as the defender had to be carted off the field during practice on Tuesday. While there is no confirmation that Emerson suffered a season-ending injury, updates indicate there is a seriousness to the injury.

NFL insider Mike Garafolo posted an image of Emerson on the ground, as the cart came out to retrieve the corner. Further updates from Garafolo also indicate that the injury could be very serious and potentially season-ending.

Garofolo indicated that Emerson could not put weight on his left leg as he had to be helped to the cart. Then, the final update may point to the nature of the injury being very serious.

"Emerson with a towel over his head and very emotional as he was driven off. Athletic trainers gave owner Jimmy Haslam an update he didn't seem to like," Garofolo finished with.

Granted, tests are going to be administered to determine what sort of injury Emerson suffered, but the updates currently do not tell a story of good news. The fact that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam was visibly upset about the update means that this injury could be unfortunately serious.

Emerson was slated to be the Browns' starting cornerback, which is a role he has worked himself into since joining the team in 2022. After a rough first two seasons in the NFL, the corner was slated to be the No. 2 corner in 2024.

Emerson worked his way up to a start in 15 games, appearing in all 17 in 2024. He ended the season with 80 total tackles, one forced fumble, and five passes defended.

Hopefully, the news on Emerson's injury comes back with some sort of positivity. As it stands right now, things appear to be dire.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is sure to offer more updates on Emerson, but the outlook is grim regarding the updates on Emerson's current condition.

There have been plenty of players who have been injured on the field, and though it was believed they suffered something serious, they were still able to return during the season.

Take Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Guyton. He was injured during training camp, and it was believed he tore his ACL. It was later discovered that his ACL was intact, and he would only miss 4-6 weeks with a bone fracture.

The hope would be the same for Emerson, though there are no details on that currently. For now, things are pointing to the corner potentially being out for an extended period, and potentially the entire season.
