The Atlanta Falcons-Tampa Bay Buccaneers rivalry is getting a whole lot spicier these days.
Things escalated earlier this week when D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution wrote a story on new Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski, in which he took a shot at Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, who responded by throwing shade back at Stefanski, who was Mayfield’s head coach with the Cleveland Browns in 2020 and 2021.
“#Falcons’ Kevin Stefanski had a dumpster fire at quarterback in Cleveland -- Baker Mayfield and Deshaun Watson failed, which started a chain reaction to 11 other starters. QB Shedeur Sanders closed out last season with seven starts,” Ledbetter wrote on X.

Mayfield responded: “Failed is quite the reach pal. Still waiting on a text/call from him after I got shipped off like a piece of garbage. Can’t wait to see you twice a year, Coach.”
A new wrinkle to the NFC South rivalry unfurled on Thursday morning when ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Bucs had poached one of the Falcons’ top coaches.
“Staying in the NFC South: Buccaneers are finalizing a deal to hire Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson as their offensive coordinator, per sources,” Schefter stated.
Robinson will take over for recently fired Josh Grizzard, who was let go earlier in January as part of a coaching staff revamping under head coach Todd Bowles, who was presumably pressured to overhaul his staff or risk losing his job after Tampa Bay finished 8-9 after starting the year 6-2.

“Zac is one of the bright offensive minds in our game, and during the interview process, I was very impressed with his plan for getting the most out of the talent we have on that side of the ball,” Bowles said in a statement.
“He has a very good understanding of the strengths of our top offensive players from his time in the division the past two years and I am very confident in his ability to teach and develop our young players.”
