Los Angeles Chargers star receiver Keenan Allen returned to the organization that he spent the majority of his career with when he signed a one-year, $8.5 million deal in the offseason. After a year spent away with the Chicago Bears in 2024, it is believed that Allen will retire as a member of the Chargers, and he is set to break a major franchise record.

Allen was drafted by the then-San Diego Chargers in 2013 in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Cal. Since his arrival, he has gone on to be one of the most dependable receivers, securing over 1,000 yards in six of his 12 full seasons in the league.

Per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, Allen is only eight receptions away from breaking the all-time receptions record for the Chargers.

The current leader is legendary tight end and Hall of Famer, Antonio Gates. Gates has 955, while Allen is currently at 948.

Should Allen pull off eight receptions against the Vikings, he will be the Chargers' all-time leader in receptions. Currently, he leads the team with 44 catches through seven games, which is about 6.25 catches per game.

The Chargers may look to pass the ball, but might also rely more heavily on the run game. Minnesota is currently fifth best in the league in passing yards defense, only allowing 184.0 per game.

The Vikings' run defense is far less impressive, giving up 117.7 yards per game, which places them at No. 15 overall.

Allen continues to showcase that age is but a number, as the Chargers receiver is producing a solid season thus far. He may not get his franchise record-breaking eight receptions against the Vikings, but he will smash that record by the time the 2025 season is done.
