There are no details yet regarding how Ward suffered the concussion, but he must have taken a big shot to the head to not only suffer the injury but also to be ruled out. The Colts' star will now be in concussion protocol and may miss multiple games.

Ward has played in four games this season, picking up 13 total tackles and three passes defended. He has also given up a 60.9 completion percentage and 90.5 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks when targeted.
Ward came over from the San Francisco 49ers and became a huge pickup for this Colts team. Indianapolis has been a huge surprise in 2025, picking up a 4-1 record through five games thus far.
Daniel Jones is having a huge rebound year, and the Colts continue to roll. However, losing Ward is going to heavily impact the defense. Indianapolis is taking on the Arizona Cardinals, who are no pushover opponents.
The silver lining is that Cardinals starting quarterback Kyler Murray has been ruled out due to a foot injury he suffered in Week 5. Jacoby Brissett will now be under center for the game.
Brissett is still a proven veteran and can make the day difficult for this Colts defense without Ward. Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride are considered two of the best at their respective positions, and Brissett has the type of arm that he can dish the ball out to them plenty.
The hope for the Colts is Ward did not suffer a concussion that will keep him out for more than just Week 6.
