The Dallas Cowboys are actively working on their roster during the offseason as they look to regain the sort of success that led them to playoff prominence in the past.
Fans watched the team finish with a disappointing 7-9 season, and while they had a slim chance of reaching the postseason late, that slipped away. The team remains committed to building around several star players on the roster, including quarterback Dak Prescott and receivers George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb.
Last Friday, the team made a significant decision by placing a non-exclusive franchise tag on Pickens, which still allows other teams to sign him in free agency. However, the Cowboys have the right to match any offer, and if they choose not to, the team signing Pickens must send Dallas two first-round picks.

This week, updates have emerged about the moves Dallas is making, including restructuring several top players' contracts to keep them under the salary cap.
On Wednesday, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Cowboys had restructured Dak Prescott and Tyler Smith's contracts to free up $47 million in cap room.
Soon after, Todd Archer reported (via sources) that the team also restructured CeeDee Lamb's contract, which further ensures they're under the cap.
Pickens' situation with the Cowboys remains unresolved, but that franchise tag is in place. If the star wide receiver signs before July 15 to agree to a long-term extension with Dallas, he’s owed $27.3 million for the upcoming season.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he spoke with Pickens to inform him of the tag and talk about his future with the team. Jones also mentioned that the Cowboys are looking to be aggressive in free agency to improve for next season.
"I could see us being aggressive in free agency," he said, per DallasCowboys.com. "By the very virtue of having two number ones, we're gonna spend more money in the draft than normally you would spend… I would bet that we will spend more money in free agency than we have."
The team is now under the cap, so some significant free agency moves could be on the horizon as they look to compete in a stacked NFC.
