Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos put together an impressive 2025 NFL season that unfortunately ended in the AFC Championship Game with a loss to the New England Patriots.

During the team's Divisional Round win over the Buffalo Bills, the Broncos saw star quarterback Bo Nix go down with a season-ending ankle injury. If that injury hadn't occurred, there is a very legitimate chance that Denver would be preparing to play in next week's Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks.

Sadly, fans will never know if Nix could have power his team to the big game or not.

With that being said, the NFL offseason is coming up quickly. The Broncos are a team on the rise and an aggressive offseason should put them in much better position to make a Super Bowl run in 2026.

Keeping that in mind, there are quite a few areas Denver could look to improve. One of those areas comes at the wide receiver position.

Making an effort to invest in Nix's future would be a wise decision for the Broncos. Targeting a potential star No. 1 target like George Pickens could very well be an option for Denver.

CBS Sports analyst Zachary Pereles has suggested the Broncos as a potential contender to sign Pickens this offseason. He thinks the Dallas Cowboys will end up re-signing Pickens, while also mentioning the Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens as other possible destinations.

"The Cowboys would be foolish to lose Pickens after his breakout 93-catch, 1,429-yard season earned him All-Pro honors," Pereles wrote. "Jerry Jones has already expressed a desire to keep him, and after losing Micah Parsons, he can't let Pickens leave."

Throughout the course of the 2025 season with the Cowboys, Pickens put up big-time numbers. After being acquired following the 2025 NFL Draft, Pickens caught 93 passes for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns in 17 games.

Spotrac has projected that signing Pickens will cost a team a deal worth around $122.4 million over the course of four years. That is a steep price, but the 24-year-old wideout has the talent to be a top-tier receiver.

Expect to hear quite a few rumors surrounding Denver as the offseason gets underway. Pickens may or may not end up being a target for the Broncos, but pairing him with Nix is an extremely intriguing thought.
